The First Trumpet - World War I - 1914
Revelation 8:7 "The first sounded, and there came hail and fire, mixed with blood, and they were thrown to the earth; and a third of the earth was burned up, and a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up."
This trumpet is World War One. World War One is the first war in the history of the world where bombs were used in warfare. The hail and fire mixed with blood symbolizes missile warfare and the carnage that it creates. If you look at the history, much of the earth, trees and grass were burned up because of the missile warfare. Thousands and thousands of people were left desolate because whole cities and towns were burnt to the ground. The same can be said for World War Two with the Scorched Earth policy.

The Second Trumpet - World War II - 1935
Revelation 8:8 "The second angel sounded, and something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea; and a third of the sea became blood, and a third of the creatures which were in the sea and had life, died; and a third of the ships were destroyed"
This trumpet is World War Two. Notice John said "something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea. The great mountain of fire was the Atom Bomb exploding at the end of World War Two. A third of the sea becoming blood represents the lives lost at sea. Exactly one third of all Naval Ships in World War Two were destroyed.

The Third Trumpet - Chernobyl Dissaster - 1986
Revelation 8:10 "The third angel sounded and a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of waters. The name of the star is called Wormwood; and a third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the waters, because they were made bitter."
This trumpet is the Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster in the Union of Soviet Socialist’s Republic. A smoldering nuclear stack looks like a giant burning torch. Chernobyl is the Russian word for Wormwood. It affected the waters and made them bitter. Thousands upon thousands have died from drinking the water, while thousands more are victims of radiation poisoning. This disaster is still causing problems today.

The Fourth Trumpet - Mt. Pinatubo Eruption - 1991
Revelation 8:12 "The fourth angel sounded, and a third of the sun and a third of the moon and a third of the stars were struck, so that a third of them would be darkened and the day would not shine for a third of it, and the night in the same way."
This trumpet has been the missing puzzle piece, it seems. This one actually one of the greatest events to occur in the last 100 years. I’ve noticed that everyone skips this trumpet because no one has been able to figure it out. When God showed me the first, second, third and fifth trumpets, I checked online to see if others believed the same way. I found that many share in these interpretations. What I also found was that no one had an interpretation of the 4th trumpet. There is one interpretation that I found that I will address later as being bogus, but no one else had an interpretation. I found myself questioning the other ones that God had shown me because I didn’t have a complete picture. I started to get discouraged with it until I decided to do something that I should have done in the first place. I asked God, "What is the 4th trumpet?"
He said, "Why do you want to know?"
When God asks you a question, you know something is amiss and you had better answer honestly. I said, "Because, I either want to know all of it or none of it, Lord."
He didn’t answer me. *gulp* You know, when God doesn’t answer you back, it’s because you gave the wrong answer. I then said, "Because I want to be the first one to know."
He immediately said to me, "VOLCANO."
All of the sudden my mind was going super fast with images, news broadcasts and video clips that I remembered about a volcanic eruption that happened somewhere in Asia when I was in High School. There was one that was crystal clear in my mind of a busy street in a crowded city full of pedestrians wearing surgical masks and holding umbrellas. It was the middle of the day, but the sky was black because of the sun being blocked by volcanic ash. It was amazing. Then I asked God to show me how it fits with John’s illustration of it. This is what ran through my head.
Notice the words that are used in the scripture. A third of the sun, moon and stars is the same as saying a third of the heavens. Notice the word "struck". It is a violent word. The heavens being struck says that something from earth shot up violently into the heavens as to strike them. This action caused the day and night sky to not be visible for a third it. This is a perfect picture of exactly what a volcano does. A volcano violently shoots lava, gas and ash up into the heavens and blackens out the sky.
Since I was at work, I didn’t have access to the internet, so I called my wife and asked her to find a volcanic eruption that happened some time between 1986 and 1991. Not only did she find a volcanic eruption, but she found the second worst volcanic eruption of the 20th century.
This 4th trumpet announces the volcanic eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in Luzon, Philippines. It shot gas and ash so high up into the atmosphere that the whole earth was, in a very short span of time, covered by a thin layer of volcanic ash. The eruption was so violent that a crater was left where the mountain had been.
I want to address the interpretation of the 4th Trumpet that I found on the internet which I completely disagree with. There are a few believers out there who think that the 4th trumpet is an environmentalist report about the days getting 37% dimmer. This is not the fulfillment of the 4th trumpet and I will tell you why.
Every Trumpet blast has been followed by something terribly violent. If you look at the rest of the trumpet blasts, they have a severity about them. They are, in a way, earth shaking. The day getting slightly dimmer is not violent. If it was, it would still not be the fulfillment of the 4th trumpet, because the day getting dimmer was a gradual and almost unnoticeable thing that happened over a long span of time. None of the trumpets are gradual and slight. Not only that, but none of the trumpets are blown after the fact. They are all blown right before what happens to announce it’s coming. If the trumpet blew right before the day started getting dimmer, it wouldn’t be the 4th trumpet. It would take place some time before the third, second or first trumpet. This interpretation, when carried out to its end, does not work.
The heavens are STRUCK which is a quick and powerful thing. Not only that, but the nighttime is supposed to be blocked out as well. This is not the case with the 37% dimmer day. The dimmed day is not a trumpet blowing. It is more of a flute tooting or a lulling lullaby. It doesn’t fit. It’s like the Sesame Street Game where they sing, "One of these things is not like the others."
